The 2012 contract teacher (Samvida Shikshak Varg-2) recruitment was among the Vyapam cluster exams the MP STF found rigged through MPPEB's own systems. On 15 June 2014 the STF arrested former Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma — who had held charge of MPPEB — in this case, along with his former OSD. Sharma was chargesheeted, spent over two years in custody, was released on bail in 2017, and died in May 2021 while the trial was pending; proceedings against him abated. Trial against other accused continues.
