In July 2022, Uttarakhand STF established that the December 2021 UKSSSC graduate-level paper had been leaked through a chain involving an outsourced printing-press network, with candidates charged up to Rs 12–15 lakh. More than 40 people were arrested, including the alleged organiser, a resort owner from Uttarkashi, who spent 13 months in jail, was re-arrested in September 2025 on the eve of another exam, and got high-court bail in January 2026. The exam was scrapped; linked leaks hit the 2021 forest inspector and secretariat guard exams. Recruitment moved to UKPSC.
